Located in the municipality of Palmeiras, 30 km from the town center and 70 km from Lençóis, via a winding and picturesque road offering breathtaking views of the landscape. A paradise for adventurers in the Chapada Diamantina, The Vale do Capão has several trails of varying difficulty levels and impressive attractions. It is here that you can access the Cachoeira da Fumaça (Smoke Waterfall) , the highest free-falling waterfall in Brazil, with a height of 380 meters. Capão is also one of the main gateways to the Vale do Pati trail, in addition to having several waterfalls such as Águas Claras , Purificação , Rio Preto , Riachinho and many others. The small village of Capão is nestled within a grand valley; its scenic beauty is impressive, and it is no wonder that Vale do Capão has become a corner of the world, a cosmopolitan place where the native population has welcomed and embraced people from different places. Most of the travelers who arrived there were influenced by the counterculture movements of the 1970s, such as the hippie movement, giving rise to alternative communities, which gives the place an alternative vibe, and it's common to see art overflowing in the village streets.



The center of the village is the point of arrival and departure of the Valley, and there you can find first-hand facilities such as restaurants, bars, inns, markets, pharmacies, shops and the emergency room. The local community is very welcoming and friendly. The valley extends for about 7 kilometers, following Rua do Juca to Bomba, the last neighborhood located at the bottom of the valley. Along the central street that cuts through the center of the valley, Vale do Capão is divided into several neighborhoods that are characterized by different landscapes according to their position in the relief and the zones they occupy. Each neighborhood has its origin and name in the history of occupation of the region. Along the valley, there are different types of accommodation and cultural spaces, such as the Circo do Capão, the Community Garden and restaurants that reflect the initiatives and multicultural diversity of the place.
