Vale do Capão
The Vale do Capão lies in the municipality of Palmeiras, 30 km from the town center and 70 km from Lençóis, along a scenic, winding road through the Chapada Diamantina.
This is home to the Cachoeira da Fumaça, the tallest free-falling waterfall in Brazil at 380 m. Other waterfalls in the area include Águas Claras, Purificação, Rio Preto and Riachinho. The Vale do Capão is also the gateway to the Vale do Pati crossings.

A corner of the world
Known as “a corner of the world”, the Vale do Capão has a cosmopolitan, alternative culture shaped by the 1970s counterculture movements. Art is everywhere in the community.

Where to stay
Options range from budget hostels to pousadas with pools. Chalets are increasingly popular for longer stays and remote work.
Food
The dining scene reflects the village's cultural diversity, with the best vegetarian and vegan options in the whole Chapada Diamantina. Most restaurants and bars have open-air seating.
Services
Essential services are concentrated in the village center (markets, pharmacies, healthcare, transport). Important: there are no banks or ATMs in the Vale do Capão — but most places accept cards.
